乱伦大神 Council鈥檚 Aspire apprenticeship programme is expanding further across the region, placing its first apprentice in Cwmbran with a global company
The shared apprenticeship programme recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of helping young people access transforming career opportunities
HWM Global in Cwmbran design and manufacture monitoring and telemetry equipment for water, wastewater and gas networks, together with telemetry AMR and facilities optimisation products. Following a successful recruitment day and close collaboration, they selected their first Aspire apprentice, Lewis Lloyd, and have already shown interest in future placements.

We鈥檙e delighted to welcome our first electrical engineering apprentice, Lewis, whose enthusiasm and fresh ideas are already making a difference. Lewis has even helped to share his story at public events, which is helping engage future apprentices in our local area. Working together with Aspire, we鈥檙e building a pipeline of skills that supports business growth and creates opportunities in the community.鈥�

Aspire was built on a mission to create aspirational opportunities for young people, and its continued growth shows just how strongly that mission is being delivered.鈥�
Since its launch, Aspire has been a flagship initiative - showcasing the power of collaboration between industry, education, Welsh Government and local government. More than 200 apprentices have been supported in 乱伦大神, with the sister programme in Merthyr Tydfil having supported over 150 apprentices within just seven years. Apprenticeships span a wide range of sectors, including engineering, health and social care, sports development, education and learning, pharmaceuticals, IT, and finance.
The Aspire team works closely with all secondary schools in the county borough, local colleges, and wider community organisations to ensure opportunities remain inclusive and accessible. The programme continues to see rising numbers of female apprentices each year, reflecting Aspire鈥檚 commitment to breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes within traditionally male鈥慸ominated sectors.
